FUSILAMIENTOS

Fusilaron a los seis ministros del gobierno a las seis y media de la mañana frente a la tapia de un hospital. En el patio había charcos de agua. Había hojas secas empapadas de agua sobre el empedrado del patio. Llovía mucho. Todos los postigos del hospital estaban cerrados. Uno de los ministros estaba enfermo de tifus. Dos soldados lo arrastraron escaleras abajo y lo sacaron bajo la lluvia. Trataron de conseguir que se mantuviera de pie apoyándose en la tapia, pero él se sentó en un charco de agua. Los otros cinco estaban muy quietos, apoyados contra la tapia. Por fin el oficial dijo a los soldados que era inútil empeñarse en que se quedara de pie. Cuando dispararon la primera descarga, estaba sentado en el agua, con la cabeza sobre las rodillas.

THEY SHOT THE SIX CABINET MINISTERS

They shot the six cabinet ministers at half-past six in the morning against the wall of a hospital. There were pools of water in the courtyard. There were wet dead leaves on the paving of the courtyard. ft rained hard. All the shutters of the hospital were nailed shut. One of the ministers was sick with typhoid. Two soldiers carried him downstairs and out into the rain. They tried to hold him up against the wall but he sat down in a puddle of water. The other Jive stood very quietly against the wall. Finally the officer told the soldiers it was no good trying to make him stand up. When they fired the first volley he was sitting down in the water with his head on his knees.
